Unofficial "Master" of socket A - I'm sure it's brand new, no signs of wear

Hah... You should try looking up prices for an FX5800 Ultra.

Now those are expensive.

Heh, funny you should mention that.... was just following a listing, and.... you could probably trade this for a RTX 3070/3080 or something....
Man, just crazy.
And it isn't even an 'orignal Siluro' apparantly (bottom remark).

I hope it don't mind wide open spaces or it'll be like trapping an agoraphobic in a concert hall.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Yep... Just a modded Quadro FX2000 I think.

I think the last real FX5800 Ultra went for around 2k.

Recieved my Corsair Carbide 540 case. A bit scuffed and some scratches on the window. But hey, almost 10 year old case.
It was really dirty, and bird feathers inside the case. A vacume cleaner, some window cleaner and soap water.
I actually thought that it was 3.5 inch drive bays on the front. Nope!!! Those are 5.25 inch ones. This is an BIG case.
I have not been able to find any red version like mine, so it might be a case mod. And I got a Noctua fan as a bonus.
All drive holders are in the case, and there are some SATA extension cables as well.

I have that case, bought it new for about 130 bucks. It will probably be my case for decades to come.

The red is a mod. The front grill comes out easily for cleaning, so it's not hard to paint just it. And they covered the MOST beautiful Corsair badge.

Both of the 5.25" bays are still covered on my case.

This case reminded me of the SGI Onyx cases, which is why I wanted it. Anyways, I'm planning on putting wood paneling on the front right site, or painted parts of mine beige.

Anyways, great case IMO. It has a ton of expansion and air flow.

Well... Mostly it will be on my shelf. It will be housing an Commodore64 after all. You know, a machine that I am building for the sake of building it.

True. It does remind of old big computers. I am more thinking a child of an old school Vax that had its ways with a cray. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

Yup. The more I look at it, the more I love it. And it it a case with great expandability. I too can see the design of old Unix systems in this. However it looks more like cray and vax in one to me. Does not matter if it is modded. It will house a Commodore64 anyway. And for that small amount that I paid for it, then the lack of the corsair badge does not matter. I might look around for a C64 case badge. To see if they are avaliable somewere.

That is not a bad case you got there. I might go for one like that the next time I am building a modern workstation. I have been using laptops exclusively the last 10 years as my daily driver. So it might be refreshing to have a workstation instead. But I need more desk space for that.

EDIT:
Ohhh..... I see one tiny design flaw on the Cooler Master HAF XB. If you have an angled ATX Power connector on the top of the mainboard, facing up, then you got a real issue mounting it in that case. What they should have done, is to have the board mounting, shifted all the way to the left of the case (facing from the front of the case). But most ATX boards are not designed with an ATX Power connector in that spot. Actually only a small number. So it is a minor design flaw, that might not be a real issue at all.

I have a Q9550 system too, love it. The Q9505 was the top of the Core 2 Quad mid range CPUs and it was very cheap. Our company bought a lot of them back in the day along with the Q8400S. The top of the line (not extremes) cost almost 3x as much while offering little performance gain, no wonder people couldn't be suckered in to buy them. The Q9505 was the logical choice.

There's ample space on the motherboard tray to the front and right side of the case - an angled ATX connector would not be a problem. In fact there's so much space to the front of the case that you can fit an XLATX motherboard in there - well, some will fit anyway - if you remove the two hot swappable HDD cages. The case is extremely well ventilated and the fact that the motherboard is mounted horizontally greatly contributes to good temperatures. I'm running my 3930k @ 4.5GHz cooled by a Thermalright "Le grand macho RT" in my HAF XB and temps are extremely good.
