Hi there, I want to build the ultimate Dual PPro system and I need a modified bios by Mentat-vvo - so I’m here now and did an account.

I’m a Pentium Pro fanatic freak and I built my first Socket 8 to Slot 1 (with Asus C-P6S1) system around 2010 without bios modification on an Asus P2L97-S with SD-Ram and AGP with the very first bios version (0102S) which natively supports the PPro - later versions did not.

I collected many slotkets over the years by Tyan, Asus, ALR and Intergraph and tried many different slot 1 motherboards to build a dual PPro. But every time the problem was the Bios. Years later in 2016 I got in contact with Max1024 - he helped me to modify the bios for the Asus P2L97-DS - so I could built two (dual PPro and dual P2 OD) exotic systems. I had (still have) also more modern slot 1 boards like the Asus P2B-D or the Tyan S1834D, but Max1024 could not help to run 2 PPros on those boards -

Some days ago I searched the internet and found some old auctions. Someone did C-P6S1 clones and got it running on a Tyan S1834D - something impossible is possible now…wicked
Mentat-vvo did it!

Hopefully I get his modified bios for the Tyan S1834D and I can start building a new exotic just for fun system

Not yet, waiting for the Tyan BIOS. The S1834D supports ECC/REG SDRAM

Received the modified BIOS for the Tyan Tiger 133 (S1834D) by Mentat-vvo. First run works well. Intel Pentium Pro (black 1mb version) meets the VIA Apollo Pro 133A chipset. Will do the B21 trick for 100MHz fsb now and I waiting for a GeForce 7600 GS 😅

Good. But, the best performing mixture of video card-driver is GF3Ti500. We must use old drivers from GF2Gts/Ti , with modded ini file, otherwise system receives huge 30% penalty in video performance because of too heavy drivers.

Browsing for similar stuff on thingiverse I recently found out somebody designed an adaptor to use S478 or S939/754/AM2 coolers (that use the standard retention frame) on Socket8 mobos.
S8 coolers aren't easy to come by while sub-par 478/939 coolers are cheap and plenty and more than capable of keeping PPros cool.
