Progress !!
MT32Pi 0.10.0
Dale released MT32Pi 0.10.0, which now officially
supports McCake and has optimized frequency settings for cooler running.
Getting started
McCake configuration ready to run micro-sd card files available at https://serdaco.com/downloads/?dir=WP32McCake
This image starts in the free GeneralUser soundfont modus and does not contain MT32 ROMS.
Just copy the files to the micro SD, and you are ready to go.
If you wish to make it boot in MT32 mode, add your own legal MT32 ROM in the \rom directory and change the following settings in mt32-pi.cfg :
change default_synth = soundfont into default_synth = mt32 , to make it boot as MT32 by default
McCake full production run
I am sourcing all parts for a large complete production batch.
Some parts have super long lead times at the moment (for example the mezzanine connector for CM4, and also the 1GB Lite CM4).
Once I have quotes from the factory, etc.. i can announce pricing and more exact launch time.
I dont expect to land before september, so I will not start taking orders now.
But I am really going for it. Any progress I make, will be posted in this thread.
McCake early bird Limited edition
Some complete setups will be available soon, carefully manually completed with parts I had stocked\could still source recently.
I don't intend to make a large batch this way (way too time consuming, and insufficient part stock anyway).
So to keep this thread focussed on the project itself, I will contact all peope who declared interest earlier, by pm (no need to post again).
If you didnt declare interest before, and want to be on the waiting list, send me a pm or contact me through https://www.serdashop.com/Contact .
I will get back to people in historical order, to quote the options, when i have boards, without any obligation.
(the setups may have different CM4 modules, depending on availability).

I did declare interest previously in the thread and I am interested (sent a pm as well 😀)
The WP32 McCake has now been added to the mt32-pi Wiki's Custom Hardware section with a link to this thread:

@dreamblaster:
Hope it's okay to use your photo of the McCake there, if it needs to be changed at any point let me know. 😀
Cheers!
It's great that you included an extra row of pins to remote locate the buttons, rotary encoder and screen, those could go really well in a 3.5" bay 😀
It may be good to have that as a separate build option so they're not duplicated?

yes that expansion is coming up as well and it should work 'double'
meaning buttons will work both on the extension as locally
and you can also have 2 displays
What cable length would be needed typically for connecting the card to the drive bay ?

50...60 cm will be enough for a typical Midi-Tower. And 35...45 cm for a Mini-Tower case.
Nice Job!
A really nice Product well done!
Even late Pigeons would like it 😉

Thanks for the feedback, and kind support,
the early birds fetched the worms... I'm out of stock for now.
I may do another small quantity run, in a few weeks.
The large batch will take much more time, but the positive heart warming feedback encourages me to go through with it.
You can PM me or contact me through https://www.serdashop.com/Contact if you like to be on the wait list.
I will get back to you with details then, when and if i have more stock.

Thank you very much Serge for your hard work and wonderful products.
I am not very familiar with the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. Is there a specific version i should get? RAM? WiFi?

Well, the McCake set contains all needed, including the needed CM4.
As it is booting the SD card, it needs to be CM4 Lite version (without embedded flash) for now.
CM4 stock is troublesome, I am trying to source large batch of CM4 so i can make
McCake generally available and usable when my PCB large batch is ready..
It is quite the investment, but I am much encouraged by all your enthousiasm
wish me luck 😀
