Got this nice soundcard for a few bucks 🙂
Does anyone have the documentation for me for setting it up?

this may help: Re: Where to find Jumper settings for Audio Drive ES688
added: it is also called a MF-1115 sound card according to this page: http://dosdays.co.uk/topics/Manufacturers/ess.php

Thanks!👍
According to the information JP21 should be set as enabled so I would get the first IDE controlled adress 1F0 right?

My Retrosystems:
PIII on GA-6BA running Win98SE
AMD K6 233 on GA-586HX with Win95
Tandon 286-8MHZ Running DOS 6.22 on XTIDE-CF
M326 486DLC + 4c87dlc (Dos+Win3.11)
ECS UM4980 AMD DX2 80 5V (Dos & Win3.11)

Today I went to the flea market after 1,5 years, the flea markets in my area where closed, and I found these:
20210710_201123.jpg
- a generic ISA graphics card with OAK OTI037C
- a Media Magic ISA sound card with Cristal CS4231A-KL chip and Yamaha OPL YMF262-M
- a Skywell Magic 3D II (or Trust Voodoo Dragon 2) 12 MB
I paid less then 2 Euro for all the cards 😀)
20210710_200425.jpg
Yamaha YST-M7 active speakers for 6 Euro.

It was a really fruitful comeback 😀

An OAK graphics card was in my very first 286/16. I donated it to a previous employer so they could fit it in a Compaq Deskpro 386 to attached a LCD monitor which ran A4K/TA4K avionics diagnostic software. It was included in purchase of the New Zealand Skyhawks by Draken Industries in the US to use in dissimilar aircraft combat training for US pilots. There was no way they were going to get hold of an EGA monitor. A couple of Mini VACs systems were included in the avionics test suite as well.

That card helped put me on the path to knowing more about computers than I ever dreamed....😉

There's a glitch in the matrix.

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉

I had the black version of those speakers probably about 20 years ago, I liked them a lot at the time.

I don't know why, but I'm happier for these speaker then for the v2... maybe because I didn't had any decent retro speakers till now...

In the meantime I have made further progress in the xtide BIOS, but only the 8 bit mode works to boot the Compact Flash. The ESS is set to 170h.
I would like to operate the CD-ROM drive on the same cable (slave) .... has anyone ever gotten cf and CD to work together on a sound card?

Stock image from the web as it hasn't arrived yet.

Didn't have any PS/2 compatible optical mice in my collection and really could do with 1 to use on my Amiga & Atari ST.

Got it fairly cheaply with 2 other generic mice which are likely not PS/2 compatible so will just do for spares.

My second dual PII/PIII mother of all boards. It will sit quite nicely near my Super P6DLS.

Meet the SOYO SY-D6IBA. An unexpected flea market find dumped into a bag full of other boards.

Does anyone have the DRIVER CD for this beast? Looking further into the future we should mirror all the FTP sites of the once great manufacturers as in 10 years or so we won't be able to find much of the stuff that still is available.

PRW-2021-103.jpg PRW-2021-104.jpg

The board needs a recap but that won't be a problem. I plan to recap it fully.

I managed to score a complete PC from 1998 on eBay last week for $130 shipped. I was actually on the hunt for an Aopen AX59 Pro super 7 mobo, did a search and lo and behold, a complete tower! It was built by Dog Bytes back in the day and includes the following:

AX59 Pro mobo
AMD K6-2 350 Mhz
128 MB RAM
18 GB HDD
STB Velocity 128 video
S3 Sonic Vibes sounds card
3.5 floppy drive
100 MB Zip drive
Sony CD-ROM

It's very clean and in great shape, and very little discoloration on the tower. I'm really stoked I found it. It'll likely become a host for one of my Voodoo 2 SLI systems.

Nice score. The Aopen AX59 Pro is my favourite super-7 mainboard. Should support the K6-3 and 36GB disk drives out of the box. There's also a bios update that enables support for disk drives up to 128gb.

Picking up an assortment of 478 and lga 775 chips with a Am3 board. Including a very useful Q6700, and a hilariously specced and named Celeron 420.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

Got the same board =)
Great board if you ignore the almost comically placed SCSI connectors.
As you say SOYO is gone, but lives on in the wayback machine:
https://web.archive.org/web/20070712050654/ht … ol2=72&col3=All
The direct links from the cached site doesn't seem to work.
But you can use the cached FTP links instead:
https://web.archive.org/web/20051201125947/ht … tw/dl/bios/686/
The latest "webpage" mentions "2CA2" as the latest BIOS, but the FPT has a "2DA2"
I flashed the "bdb-2da2.bin" BIOS on mine and it seems to work fine.

SOYO's BIOS naming makes no sense to me, and I cant find a proper index.
So careful if you dont have an external programmer =)

Will that one provide you enough traction or will it cause MultiSpin? 😉

@bofh.fromhell - thanks a lot! 😀 I looked on the wayback machine for a few hours but as all I could find were dead links, I almost gave up. You saved me a lot of hours of searching. Much appreciated! 😀

I have an external programmer so I can play at my heart's content with any BIOS version. 😀))))))))))))))))))

the combo card also has an older ESS chip that provides SB2.0 compatibility AFAIK so it's a nice find and not just an adlib
