I am looking for a good modern cooler with 775 support. I don't like the plastic push pin design because it's too fragile.

I think 212 evo v2 might be a decent choice. Any other ideas ? Thanks.

Update:
Just "ordered" a Noctua NM-I3 Mounting-Kit since I already have a U12S in my daily driver.
I will buy one of the Noctua coolers that supports NM-I3 Mounting-Kit

Looks like Noctua sells some coolers that still support the LGA 775 with an extra mounting kit.

What CPU and are you going to be overclocking?

What case?

How cool do you want the CPU to run under load?

You don't need 775 support in some cases. Modern AM3/AM4 coolers can be installled on 775 via bracket adapter.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

I am planning on getting a QX6850. I also have a Pentium D 945.
Maybe some mild OC on it but nothing extreme.
I just want the cooler to be versatile to fit my random need in the future.

I would say a Noctua NH-D14 or NH-D15 then. Noctua provides a few different brackets and then usually has additional ones you can buy directly from them.

I was also going to say Noctua
They have a range of mounting kits allowing you to use heatsinks allowing you to use newer coolers with older sockets or older heatsinks in newer sockets.
Often for free if you can provide proof of purchase.

I bought an Asetek 550LC water AIO,last week, and it sopports 775 and x115X brackets at least by the specs, amd and 2011 are optional and all the brackets use screws. Installed it on a 2011 so not sure about 775. Big noctua coolers weren't an option for me.
Edit: Forgot to mention that The Asetek AIO is cheaper than the big Noctua coolers.
