I need to replace a damaged Megatrends MEGA-KB-H-WP. My understanding is that this is a programmed Intel P8042AHP.
I'm looking for a cheap replacement. I'd like to try a generic keyboard controller, but I'm not sure which one to get.

The Megatrends MEGA-KB-F-WP is more easily available to me than the "H" version. Is that likely to work? Does anyone know how they differ?

I see some pictures of the relevant motherboard, Asus 486sv2, in a later revision than mine, with an AMIKEY controller, but most pictures have the MEGA-KB one.
Is AMIKEY-2 compatible with AMIKEY? The former is more easily available to me.

The attachment mega-h.jpg is no longer available

Some intel here... Re: 8042 programming?

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
