Hey all,

The power supply that came with my case crapped out over the weekend in spectacular fashion, and I needed to quickly grab a new one.

Just want to make ABSOLUTELY SURE I'm not doing anything wrong here, so I've got a couple of questions.

1: The new power supply I found on ebay seems to have come with a green/yellow grounding cable (the old unit did not have this)? Do I need to use this? Will I explode if I fail to respect it?

The attachment groundplug.jpg is no longer available

2: I need help making sense of the power switch diagram vs. the switch itself

Here's the diagram for how the wires should connect to the switch:

...and here's the case power switch itself:

Can a nice, patient person please talk to me like I'm an idiot and tell me which color needs to attach to which prong?

I would truly appreciate it!

Thanks!

The brown and black are typically the HOT inputs as your PSU label says. The divider down middle of the switch keeps each section apart.
The green should be bolted to the metal case somewhere since your front panel has no metal switch bracket and is plastic.
If it had a metal switch bracket you would mount the green to the metal bracket.
Hook up as the picture and find a screw hole somewhere to bolt the green to (though the green is same as the metal box of the PSU and the third ground member of the power cord).
Hope that helps.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Thank you so much!

So just so I'm getting this straight: Can I opt not to screw in this cable at all? Is it okay to just leave dangling inside the case, considering that I've already got the normal grounding from the power supply casing/cable?

😀
