The 478 coolers, as most of you all know, were very loud under load and the processors could run hot. But that is just how it was "back in the day". Now a days we are spoiled with water cooling and 120mm+ tower coolers. I had grown kinda tired of the airplane sound coming from my p4 system, which is a sony vaio transplanted into a bigger case, and decided to do something about it.

I bought an "upgrade" thermaltake cooler for it thinking this would do the trick but it was still fairly loud and wasn't a performance improvement over the stock sony vaio cooler.

Then I eyed my spare hyper 212 in the corner and my 3d printer and searched thingiverse for a solution. I found one and it did work. But I was wondering if heat and time would cause the pla to lose it's strength.

So I took some measurements and a spare aluminum ruler lying around and made adapter tabs and it fit fantastic. It works fantastic too. Went from 50* idle temps to 46* at idle and 64* full load cinebench temps to 57*. It's also very quiet which is what I wanted in the first place, I wasn't too worried about extra cooling.

You can see that on my particular motherboard that the tabs come very close to the capacitors but the few it's close to are lower height than the others. It fit strangely like it was designed that way. A few tall (not sure of exact height) motherboard stand-offs into the stock back plate and I could easily bolt this all together.
