Think I managed to snag a MSI MS-6905 Master rev 2.3 slotket; we'll see if I got got when it rolls in within the next week.

Also have a Gigabyte GA-6BXC Rev 1.7 (with 128MB RAM and a Celeron 400MHz attached, not that it matters too much, at least not as much as the included backplate), 3 VIA C3s ( 2x 866AMhz, 1x 1.0AGhz because who knows what's a Ezra/-T/Nehemian. Supposedly the 1.0AGHz is an Ezra-T), and one of those TL866II EEPROM programmers I've been meaning to grab for some BIOS flashing (and possibly fixing a S478 gigabyte board I have that's giving me issues). Also on the way is a 3Com 3C905B-TXNM 10/100 adapter so I can see if I can't get FreeDOS to connect to my netshare holding all of my retro program/game image backups (also for making images of some floppies I have) and some other S370 to Slot 1 adapter with jumpers for voltage settings, but only down to 1.6V (bought this before I found the MS-6905)

From my (post buy) digging, I've actually grabbed a pretty decent board (assuming it survives the shipping) to pair with one of the C3s for some SetMul + RayeR SMB fun (though most stuff I've seen relating to the board on here talks about the later revisions, typically 2.0). All that is gonna be replacing the 200MMX setup I have now

I'd like to say the next week is gonna be fun, but that 1GHz C3 wont get here until like a week later due to coming from China and it's the important part if it happens to be Ezra-T. Hopefully I wont have to touch the DOS machine after this, but I said that when I got the Orpheus in there =3=

Win98+DOS: C3 Ezra-T 1.0AGHz / P3-S 1.26GHz, 128MB RAM, AWE64 + Orpheus + Audigy 2 ZS, Ti 4200, 128GB SD card
Win XP SP3: C2Q 9650, 4GB RAM, X-Fi Titanium, GTX 750
PowerMac G4 QS 800MHz + GeForce4 Ti4200, OS 9
PowerMac G5 DP 1.8Ghz + ATi x800 XT, Leopard

Just beware I'm pretty sure only the 2.0 can support the AGP voltage needed for 3dfx Voodoo cards. I believe that is the primary difference. If you don't plan to use any 3dfx or use a PCI card I think it should work just the same? Curious to know.

Brand new OG Intellimouse Optical. Back in the day I had this one and also an Explorer which was grey with an extra button - PS2 compatible optical a must. Too bad it won't also work with a serial converter.

ACS295s aren't brand new but they may as well be -- all the original packaging is there and they are in great cosmetic shape save for some very minor age discoloration. Been looking for these for a while to go with my original PC, a Dell XPS R450.

I'll let ya know on the second half of the latter at the least; I've a few S3 cards and a TNT2 M64 PCI to test with. Wasn't planning on dunking an AGP into this since I just needed it for DOS, but now I kinda want to hunt down a decent (non-3dfx because damn those are 'spensive) AGP card to completely solve the mystery as I don't think my 5900XT will play nice with anything (unless I'm not understanding backwards compat for AGP right.. that card would still be overkill for the system, though).

EDIT: oh hey, funnily enough it was your benchmarks on the C3 Ezra 866Mhz that got me to dive in on the C3s myself

Damn I am jealous, was that a local find or online?

I got the same white intellimouse 1.1 back in 2003 and it lasted until 2010~ish when the buttons started to give out. I binned it when I found it in a box in the cupboard a couple years back (it was very very yellowed). Just recently I found a black one at work - it was used to heck - the buttons would not work properly, either double clicking or staying pressed in. I found a donor HP mouse, desoldered and swapped switches. Now the intellimouse is back in action as my main mouse. The only issue is that the mousewheel needs replacing tho, it skips and auto scrolls sometimes. The sensor still is perfect and I've been playing CS:GO, PUBG and Battlefield with it - just as good as my Zowie, and the intellimouse is waaaay lighter. The perfect mouse. I hope to keep this alive for another 20 years. Enjoy it!

For sure. They're just so much more flexible than Socket 7/K6. That "DX2-66" speed spot can only be hit on a S7 if you swap the K6 for a Pentium MMX and then you lose out on other speeds the K6 can do. The C3/6BXC combo is not only far more flexible on its own but you also have the added bonus of being able to easily enough swap in a Pentium III without changing thermal paste. Also it's hard to beat changing your multipliers AND front-side bus from software.

This one was a very very lucky local find. I will probably have to go online to get the Explorer revision.

Just got an external floppy for my old Toshiba laptop but it sounds like a dentist's drill when you try and access a disk and it doesn't work 🙁

Got a fancy AT-Case today with a two digit speed display and a 200W FSP AT-PSU included (have to check first but have a spare in stock).
The lid calls for some retrobright, but the hood is badly scratched an needs a full grind & repaint.
Very interesting is the Keyboard connector at the front (lower left). It's connected with the KB-connector at the back by an extension cable.

Building my own PCs since 1991 - for my retro builds it's "no CF-disks, no Floppy emulators, no modern cases etc.", only the real and authentic stuff whenever possible.

Is it 19"? May I ask, how much it cost for you? I picked up similar 19" black Dell CRT at garage sale for free, 3 weeks ago.

Heh, now I wanna get one and vertically mount a plexi topped optical drive across the front of drive bays. 🤣

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Pretty likely Morex case...

And I got another one of these fancy minitowers with dual-color LED display... It's my third (I already sold one of them so I have two at the moment). Inside it's pretty cool too (ASUS motherboard with HX chipset).

Unexpected surprise with the no-name slotket I bought: the PCB says it can only get the voltage as low as 1.6v but the included manual (which has what looks like Japanese on the other side) actually specifies both CPU voltage passthrough and DIP settings to go as low as 1.3v. I don't have any of my C3s or the mobo to test with yet, so now it just hinges on seeing if the VRMs can output the needed juice. Failing that, still hopefully have the MS-6905 en route which I still might just end up using while keeping this as a spare.

Seller also gave me a nice, handwritten note and packed the thing in really well (not pictured). Baggie holds what I'm assuming are the clips for the thing (idk never seen a slot 1 anything before)

Woah, I haven't seen a fresh one in box in so long. I went through loads of those back in the day before I knew how to repair stuff - I went through so many replacements from Diablo II causing the 'double click mouse' feature, that PC world said they wouldn't do any more warranty replacements after one or two times.

I stored a few of them and they're still pretty good these days, although I find the tracking rate a bit slow for bigger screens. There are ways to get an intellimouse optical connected to serial though 😀
