I found that one of my SDRAM memory sticks did not report any SPD information in either EVEREST or CPU-Z. This is interesting because it appears to have the chip on the board.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is it possible that the SPD chip has failed or is this normal, albeit uncommon.

The memory module is 32MB and appears to have been manufactured by LG.

So, first of all I'd like to state I don't have THE answer for you. I do know that these are basically the very first batch of SDRAM ever build (32MB PC-66 2x8 chips with 8 chips on either side of the RAM PCB). Things had not really fleshed out fully yet back then, so expect to find some odd ones out there from that era. Things started to get more standardized when 64MB PC-100 SDRAM started to become the standard.

Personally I wouldn't worry about the lack of readings as these particular modules were basically meant to be used in the very first generations of SDRAM DIMM motherboard slots (think Intel 430VX etc) as long as they work just fine 😀

This stick does have SPD IC.

What board in use and this stick of ram?

Cheers,

There is n SPD information when paired with a 440EX motherboard.

It works just fine otherwise. Maybe there is a standard fallback mode.
