Specifically, L7 is missing on mine and the color red is no longer present in the video output.

That would be a 70R ferrite bead.

Thanks all,

I will pick up a 70R 100mhz ferrite bead.

How about the ceramic caps at C589 and C544? The card works without them so I'm guessing they are filter caps. I found a vague reference, I think here on Vogons, to 1nF 25v in an 0402 package. Would that sound right?

Many of them look to be the same, a brownish or reddish color.

Size 0603, capacity 10nf or 100nf, it doesn't matter. These are filter caps.

Parts came in from Mouser.

Just confirming for future users that STB Voodoo 2 1000 and V2 Black Magic both indeed use size 0603 ceramic capacitors. I used 100nf on the 1000 and 10nf on the Black Magic. They both seem fine!

I used the 70R 100mhz ferrite bead at location L7 on the V2 1000 that sdz suggested and I have the color red has been restored!

Thanks for the contributions here.

There are two versions of the power supply unit in the Diamond Monster 3D II: 3.35...3.37 volts or 3.51...3.52 volts. I wonder why it is done this way?

One thing to be aware of when replacing those regulators is that different card revisions have different 'voltage divider' resistors (R99 / R100??) which may change the regulator's reference voltage to something other than it's base or label value. So it pays to look at that area as a unit.

I guess you missed my direct link to exactly that

I built:
Convert old ASUS ASC boardviews to KICAD PCB!

Dos+Windows 3.11+tcp+vbe_svga auto-install iso template
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install

I did miss it! Wish I'd have seen it though because using a solder blob would have been a good test before ordering components with a shipping cost 100x the price of the component. 😜
