Here is a 455 kHz beat frequency oscillator (BFO) that I assembled a few years ago. The barebones kit came with just the PC board and components, and I mounted it in an enclosure that has a 9 volt battery compartment, and added banana jacks and a power switch. Now I can listen to all of the HAM radio operators broadcasting on single-sideband with some of my (non-SSB) shortwave radios 😀
