Very true. Unfortunately it doesn't tell us anything about the board - socket 2 doesn't prevent a 3.3V CPU being inserted.

True as well, but I thought you mentioned earlier that socket 2 is 5V only (I don't know if this is true, it's been a while since I last tinkered with 486s). If this is true, it sure narrows down possible CPUs to make this motherboard post with a correct CPU, and certainly less dangerous.

Based on the lack of markings I would be inclined to agree. The only other explanation is that they used left over socket 2s to save money. But that makes no sense given it's a VIP board. I would have thought that choosing a bus was cheaper. Triple bus systems were supposed to save users money, not manufacturers.

I don't know what sort of precedent there is for 5v-only PCI boards. Doesn't make much sense given the signaling village of PCI.

Edit: PCI is dual voltage. Go figure.
