Yes, but it could be tricky. Stiletto posted a list of DOS drivers for AC '97 chipsets in the VDMSound development forum but I don't know if your chipset is covered or not.

Keep in mind that Saka says those drivers are for motherboards with SiS SiS63x/73x/74x chipsets mainly, but - I don't know why! It seems to me that if a DOS driver works on one mobo, it should work on others...

yes, I know. I've read the thread (no-not the whole;) ). I 've been talking about using plain DOS - no xp - to get around the ems problem

Oh, yeah, did I (already) tell you that this problem is *hardware* so it will happen in both Windows (NT/2k/XP/98/95/Me) and DOS? 😀

mmmkay, then I have to apologize, I thought you were talking about hardware configuration within XP - maybe I have been misunderstanding this because my english is not perfect 😒

so it should be a problem of my hardware, and has nothing to do with XP? For me, that sounds hardly believable, but I will test that immediately! *no,please-no*

Thx@all!! ...also for creating new hope inside myself about ef.using my soundchip under DOS........ 😀

There are multiple causes for hardware interfering with EMS. One thing that can cause problems with EMS is "BIOS support for USB mice/keyboards" in the BIOS setup (you need that for DOS, but should disable that if possible when going into Windows and testing EMS again). Some SCSI or RAID ocntrollers may also cause trouble.

I have a friend that got IT to work under VDMSound Emulation on a laptop running XP. -Sorry, no specs right now.

However the lines that showed the envelope effects on the samples would not draw. Whats up with that?

Can't tell you anything about that envelope problem (never had it), but it does sound like your computer's hardware is leeching conventional memory. (eg. hardware conflict, nothing we can do, sorry)

Yes, it’s my fault.

IT may have problems with the VGA chipset on the laptop. IT uses VGA in a weird mode.
