After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?

okay. it's booting now some bios setting was causing it to hang at updating escd and verifying dmi pool data. I reset to defaults and disabled system bios cachable (as per jan's reccomendation for k6 + cpus) and set the proper boot order

also tried it with a different cd drive I'm pretty sure the other one was bad

next problem, blue screen in windows 7 setup. says the bios in this system is not fully acpi compliant
is there any chance in hell of getting around that with a bios patch or windows patch?

"Here’s a quick guide on installing the Standard PC Hardware abstraction layer:

Reboot your machine in order to bring back the Windows Setup screen.
once you see the ‘Press F6 if you need to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver‘ bottom prompt, press F7 (Not F6) in order to bypass the installation of ACPI and install the Standard PC HAL."

I tried installing Windows 7 on my Asus P55T2P4 with a K6-3+ and 512 megs of EDO - it spent most of a day installing it when I finally gave up and pulled the plug and installed XP instead. I've given up on installing anything newer than Windows 98 on such old hardware now.

okay, It's crashing before that screen and I don't seem to have that option in bios settings for PSS & SCC Configuration what do you think the chances are of a 1999 bios working? I'm on the 98 bios now and will soon update to jans's 2005 modded 1999 bios i don't think the ram is issue as suggested in the article because I have already loaded windows xp mini on a live cd to desktop on a ram drive

You might as well try updating the BIOS, it can't hurt.
