Ok 1292 code is Asus, board would be ISA-486SV2 v2.4?. There are different rev's of the motherboard but found that exact string in MAME machine BIOS collection, not sure if it is what you need but here it is....

Yes!!!! Successful necromancy reviving a board. The asus bios worked and eliminated a problem I was having with successive beeping and locking up when restarting machine or saving to bios. It was weird...I think old bios got corrupted.

Btw, the asus board requires a ST m27c512 dip28 chip.

Hello all. I have a request. I own a socket 5 Intel Advanced/EV Endeavour motherboard, early revision. It is a OEM Highscreen/Vobis edition, and has currently bios version 2 installed. I found version 6, but I can't flash it because it's not the H version. Does someone have a modified version 6 bios I can flash? 😀 It currently has 1.00.02.CB0H, but i'd like to flash it to 1.00.06.CB0. The reason i want to update is that the newer bios has support for bigger hdd. It's limited to only 2.1GB now, but my harddisk is 4.3GB.

Hi Arno,

The only other way this is going to work is using the recovery flash method. You need an actual bios update disk and a floppy drive for that.

Power off, remove the only jumper on the board, put the upgrade diskette in the floppy drive. Power on. Now the nail-biting begins.
You need to wait for the beep of the system booting, the floppy starts reading. If all goes well, you will hear two short beeps. Then and only then, you can power off the system, put the jumper back and power on.

About this one Re: 80486 BIOS image collection, is that a complete dump? It's half the size of the Kaimei SA-486 VL-BUS M.B. bios and 25% of the Acer A1G bios.

It's a 28 pin chip on the board, think that's a 512Mbit chip max.

Okay I found some time to try this. But it didnt go as planned.
I decided to upgrade from 10002cb0h to 10002cb0 first and update to 10006 after that. I made a bootdisk, copied the extracted files from the 10002cb0.exe
The system responded the way described, but suddenly the pc speaker produced a never ending series of low beeps. The FDD led was still on, but nothing was read anymore. I waited for like 10 minutes, but nothing happened. It's clear that te bios recovery failed. The board also didnt post anymore, the powerled is blinking and nothing happens.
Also made the rookie mistake to not save the current bios to the floppydisk before proceeding.

As you all can imagine I am looking for a CBoH bios to restore the motherboard to a working state again, using the bios recovery, but maybe someone has a better Idea I can try.

Hello Everyone, I'm hoping someone can help. I acquired a few boards in a recent deal but one of them came without a BIOS chip. I've got a eprom programmer and a few 27c512 eproms but I've not been able to find a rom for this specific board and other rom's I've tried that list the chipset don't work.

The Board in question is a Free Computer 486F39X. http://www.uncreativelabs.de/th99/m/E-H/32152.htm It has a SIS 85C807/85C471 chipset on it.

Any help would be appreciated.
