I do not intend to do the 1mb mod.
W25P243AF-4A (4,5 ns) could try

I do not intend to do the 1mb mod.If you simply replace the cache chip with a larger pin compatible version (like the aforementioned LP61L64128F-4), the board will work just fine and treat the chip as a 512kB SRAM (if you don't change the resistor configuration). I know I did this test on one of my P5A-B rev 1.04 boards and it worked fine.
Though, truthfully, you might as well just go all the way and increase the cache to 1 MB, changing the resistors takes a few minutes. 😀
Not sure I understood the process.

Basically, you can replace the original 512KB 5ns SRAM IC with a 1MB 4ns SRAM IC, and it will continue to be detected as 512KB (but will be faster), just like you wanted.
2 x PLCC-68 / 4 x PGA132 / 5 x Skt 3 / 1 x Skt 4 / 9 x Skt 7 / 12 x SS7 / 1 x Skt 8 / 21 x Slot 1 / 8 x Slot A
5 x Skt 370 / 8 x Skt A / 2 x Skt 478 / 2 x Skt 754 / 3 x Skt 939 / 7 x LGA775 / 1 x LGA1155

Backup: Ryzen 7 5800X3D

Yes this is clear, I meant the process to have 1mb
