I've been playing Half Life vanilla with no issues on my Pentium 3 / Voodoo4 rig. All I had to do to get it working right was to install wickedgl and patch it to use the 3dfx mini driver. Today I installed Opposing force but it won't launch...game starts fine and I am able to choose the video config but once I start a new game it just crashes.

Specs:
Asus P2B-D/PIII 866mhz
Voodoo 4 pci
Yamaha YMF719 sound card
170GB SATA HDD connected to Promise SATA 300 tx4
Win2k
Directx9c

Thanks.

Make sure you run a Half-Life patch afterward (which should patch opfor) incase you're installing the original Opposing Force on a 1.1.x.x Half-Life install as there had been a major regressive change in the middle of 2000 that'll break all the old versions of any expansions/mods prior.

Also a Voodoo4 shouldn't have to use the 3dfx mini driver intended for Voodoo1/2. Default should work fine

Thanks for the suggestio. Will patch it, set it to software, and report back.

That was it....updated HL to 1.1.1.0 and both games work on opengl (default) settings. My rig has dual boot (win98/win2k) setup. The games run fine on the w98 with the 3dfx reference drivers but not on win2k, probably cause I have the custom AmigaMerlin drivers installed there.
