OK, this is probably one of the most bizarre problems I've ever had with my computers. So here's the story. I've had this mouse (https://www.amazon.co.uk/KRUX-Bot-Gaming-Mous … 5/dp/B0BCGD8QQ4) for a while now and I've been using it interchangeably with my daily driver laptop running Windows 7, my work laptop running Windows 11, and my HP ProBook 4540s Hackintosh running OS X Mavericks without any issues whatsoever.
Until last week that is. I recorded some stuff in Audition on the Hackintosh, using the mouse as usual, then I put it away. Then on Sunday I connected it to my Windows 7 laptop and strange things started to happen. It seemed to work fine for a few seconds, but then Windows sort of semi-froze? I was able to move the cursor and select some icons on the desktop but couldn't actually get anything to run, i.e. double-clicking didn't do anything, and the Start menu could only be opened via the keyboard. The touchpad seemed to be affected by this as well. I hooked it up to my Windows 11 laptop - the exact same thing happened. To be extra sure, I also tried it on my Windows 10 desktop PC - same thing. Then I started up the Hackintosh - the mouse worked fine there. Now, as this is a programmable mouse, I also tried the manufacturer's official configuration app to reset the mouse's internal settings. This seems to work, but only until I disconnect the mouse and connect it again.
What the hell is going on here? Has the Hackintosh somehow corrupted the mouse's internal memory? Is there a way to fix this? Any ideas fellas?
