Yesterday, the game Streets of SimCity 1997 started to crash even when the processor was slowed down by 91% using CPU Grabber. Everything ends with the message "An unrecoverable error has occurred and Streets of Sim City must quit." I'm thinking about switching to PCem or 86box. For now, I've enabled Virtualize IOMMU in the machine settings to see how this will affect the normal operation of the game. But how else can I fix crashes when the processor is slowed down by 91%? Slow it down even more? Is there a fix for modern processors?
I'm not considering buying an old PC or running it on a real laptop. I'm not considering VirtualBox either, since when the processor is slowed down by 91% using CPU Grabber, a "slide show" occurs there, while the game runs smoother on VMWare.

I guess is a better try with PCem, at least for me, I’m not so familiar with VMWare i used to use this long ago it but never worked for me they way I wanted to (pure gaming 😄) , I guess that the problem with VMware is more likely for me due to drivers running in a completely virtual machine, although It’s been a long way now for this great program because I have seen that you can put drivers to work in the virtual system while running some windows is like win 7, win 8 for example but it will never be the same. VMware will virtualized everything, ram, display, core threads, so it will create a virtual environment so you can runa an operating system on it. PCEm by other hand will emulate real hardware were you can just install real drivers for that real hardware. Sorry if this was not helpful at all but for me I believe that you will have better luck with PCEm, specifically running windows 98SE.

Any way wish you good luck with that my friend 👍🏻
