Hey there, retro fans.

I have an MS6163 version 1 board I'm trying to repair which was obviously used as a donor because it's missing a few parts, mostly capacitors. There are few high quality images online that would allow me to read the capacitor values (bad angle, blurry photos). I thiiiink I've figured out most of the values for the missing ones except for one in particular, number C210, which is in the bottom-left of the attached photo. Could someone with this board be so kind as to take a look at theirs and tell me the values of all the highlighted missing capacitors? For those who might have this board and want to help but are not too familiar with the relevant specs, I'm looking for the line that says something like "1000µf 6.3V" or "470µf 10V". However, the text is often cut off on the label and wraps around, so bear that in mind.

C210 in particular seems to be tied in to the 12V power connector pin and goes all the way to pin 2 of the PCI bus, which should indeed be the 12V rail.

The list of missing caps:

EC2
EC4
EC9
EC11
C210

It's possible that I'll replace all the caps anyway because they're JPCON and tend to fail in bulgy, leaky ways, but mine haven't so far. However, I'd like to start from the correct values and go from there. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Alternately, does anybody have an MS-6163 v2.0 (BX13), MS-6163 v3.0 (BX13), or MS-6163VA they could take a look at?

All of those boards have a similar cap in the same place as the missing one in the bottom-left of the picture (C210) between the 4th and 5th PCI slots from the top. From the images I can find, the size ratio between the missing C210 and the big cap right next to it is about 2:1. If I measure that big cap, it's a 10mm diameter 1000µf 10v, which would make the missing C210 around 5mm in diameter. In pictures it appears slightly larger than some of the common little ones like C234, for example, and that one is 4mm in diameter, but it doesn't appear as wide as C246, which is 6mm, so I think 5mm for C210 is likely correct. And, it seems a bit shorter than the big one, which is 15 or 16mm tall, and 5 x 11mm is a pretty common size, so that could make some sense. Unfortunately, that doesn't tell me much about the capacitance values but it might narrow the range of possible values within JPCON's own line of caps from the time. And, those other models might have a slightly different cap in that spot, but it's probably fairly similar in value.

If I can't get confirmation, I happen to have some 5 x 11mm 100µf caps in 16v or 25v flavors, so I'm inclined to try one of those in that spot and see what happens. Some of the marking in photos seem to hint at two zeros next to each other (very, very maybe), and possibly a 6 in there as well, so 100µf 16v is just about my best guess at the moment.

Wow, if that also holds for the v1.0, which is likely, that means all of my guesses were correct (shockingly). Thank you very much!

It does actually. The only thing different is the missing LEDs for diagnosis.

Hey, just popping back here to say the values above were, in fact, correct. The board is happily running games and demos and is quite stable. Thanks again for taking a look. Happy New Year!

Looks like 26A, photo taken from VER1, VER2 has it unmarked.
