Hi

This was probably answered before but I couldn't find any exact topics, so I'll ask here.
Recently got my hands on DOOM 3 install media (retail I think). Installed it using VCD and ran it. Complained about no DVD-ROM disk. So I patched it up using the D1.3.1 patch. Now it just crashes. I got it once to work, which gave me just an solid grey screen.
Specs of the temporary Travelmate 2490 are:
Celery M 1.7gHz
Some intel gpu
2GB DDR2 RAM
More than enough HDD space
Anybody has any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?

Some intel gpu

So you left out the most important part. If it's GMA 900, it doesn't support what the game needs and won't work.

EDIT: Could be misremembering; it might work with newer drivers.

"Celery M" would imply a much older motherboard with worse, like Intel Extreme 82xxx...

That’ll be a gma 950, even if the game does launch it’ll be pretty much unplayable from the beginning unfortunately.

Dell C521 | A64 x2 4000+ | 2GB DDR2 | 7600GS | X-Fi Titanium | XP SP3 2005 | Hacksaw mod (don't ask)
Shuttle SN85G4 | S754 A64 3200+ | 2GB DDR | 6600GT | Audigy 2 ZS | Win ME
Pentium III 700MHz | 512MB | GF4 Ti 4200 + Voodoo2 12MB | SB Live! | 98SE

Okay so I don't know what happened but the game just fixed itself? The game launches fine now, no crashing on startup. It is unplayable (wow, what did I expect). Tried an pavilion ZV5000 and it works.

It didn't fix itself if you used a different computer.
