Hello there,
How do you do?
My name is David and I have been reading these forums occasionally for quite sometime now. It is a fantastic resource and most of my queries involving retro computing and emulation have been answered already. But, I would like to reach out and possibly get some help on an AIO project I have been working on. If you have read the title you may have probably guessed it involves Virtual Machines and something like Vt-d.
I am having trouble with getting S3 cards to work on a Win95 VM. I have successfully got a Win98 machine with an Ati card working and a WinXp machine working with an Nvidia card, but the S3 cards just do not want to play with QEMU.
I have tried using the vbios; I have compiled SeaBIOS without VGA support because QEMU defaults with SeaVGABIOS; I have tweaked and threaded all the options I can think of, adding PCI bridges and shifting memory addresses around. Which when coupled with an internal adapter causes a driver conflict. I am at 23 Wits End and I cannot find a timetable-- figuratively.
I have read in a previous post that there was some success with S3 cards and passthrough¹ and if there is a chance anyone can send me in the right direction I would be incredibly grateful.
