Old video card control panel menus used to have the option to save desktop color profiles or presets. You could quickly change settings like brightness, contrast & gamma, between reading books/comics to working in the file explorer to running games or playing videos.
The latest card I saw with this option was the Radeon 7850 with the old Catalyst Control Center panel on Windows 7.

I found a solution posted on some forum but can't remember where. So, I'm reposting it here in case it's useful to anyone:
Install RivaTuner, version 2.24c specifically.

1.Open LowLevel Desktop Color Schemes from the "main" tab.

The attachment 1.LowLevel Desktop Color Schemes .png is no longer available

2.Save color profiles with your preferred settings.

The attachment 2.Save color profiles.png is no longer available

3.Create new presets from the "launcher" tab.

The attachment 3.Save launcher presets.png is no longer available

4.Edit your launcher presets to associate them with color profiles and keyboard shortcuts.

5.You can run these presets from taskbar menu or your defined hotkeys.

The attachment 5.Presets in taskbar.png is no longer available

This worked for me on a Win7 PC with Geforce 960, even with the newer MSI Afterburner & Rivatuner Statistics Server programs installed on the same PC. It also worked on an Optiplex 5050 with Intel HD 630 graphics and Windows 10.

Also, since the profile editing menu is so tall, you may have to increase your resolution to be able to see it fully. I found another nice utility "res-o-matic" that allows you to create shortcuts for any program with a pre-set resolution and refresh rate, which is helpful because in some cases my refresh rate annoyingly defaults to my CRT monitor max (85Hz) whenever I change the resolution from Windows. I find it most convenient to create a res-o-matic shortcut to "cmd.exe" at a high-resolution on the desktop, so I can temporarily use programs with big menus, then close the CMD console window to return to my comfortable 800x600 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate in 1 click.
