I bought the 1999 edition of JumpStart Preschool from Zoom Platform. https://www.zoom-platform.com/product/jumpstart-preschool

It works just fine on my laptop. It's compatible with Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11. The issue I'm having is that it won't work when I use the touchscreen on my Acer Aspire R 13 laptop. When I touch the screen, the game minimizes to the taskbar. I reached out to Zoom Platform, and they told me that it won't work with touchscreens, but it will work just fine with a mouse and keyboard.

I bought it for my nephew who is in Pre-Kindergarten, and he doesn't know how to use a mouse and keyboard. He is only used to touchscreens because he mainly plays games on the iPad. Is there any way I can get it to work with the touchscreen on my Acer Aspire R 13 laptop? It has Windows 10 64-bit installed on it. It has an Intel Core i7-5500U CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and an Intel HD Graphics 5500.

What's odd is that I downloaded an ISO of the 1999 edition of JumpStart Preschool from REMOVED, and it works just fine when I use the touchscreen. I don't know if Zoom Platform's copy is faulty or not. I bought other JumpStart games from them, and they work just fine when I use the touchscreen.

I can't think why it wouldn't be a driver issue/option.

Somehow, set it to 'mouse emulation' and it should work.

I built:
Convert old ASUS ASC boardviews to KICAD PCB!
Re: A comprehensive guide to install and play MechWarrior 2 on new versions on Windows.
Dos+Windows 3.11+tcp+vbe_svga auto-install iso template
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install

I couldn't find any information on how to set it to 'mouse emulation'. I found the manual for my Acer Aspire R13 laptop, and it mentioned Acer Touch Tools that makes a mouse cursor appear when I use the touchscreen. I can move this mouse cursor around with my finger. Unfortunately, my Acer laptop doesn't have the Acer Touch Tools anymore. I had to reset the Acer laptop at one point because the touchpad was not very responsive. The mouse cursor movement wasn't as smooth as it should have been. After I reset and wiped the laptop and reinstalled Windows 10, the touchpad worked just fine.

It's a really old laptop, so there aren't any new drivers for it. I couldn't find the Acer Touch Tools when I did a Google search, and when I tried to look it up on the Acer website, it said Access Denied.

Google AI says to try in-game settings. This is a very old game for preschoolers. There aren't any in-game settings to change the configuration for the mouse. There's only a set levels button where you can change the difficulty level for the preschool activity games.

I guess my only options are either using the ISO that I downloaded or buy the game from eBay. I found a used CD that has the 1999 edition of JumpStart Preschool. I just ordered it. I'll let you know if it works well with the touchscreen.

I think when looking for drivers at Acers website, you should enter your laptops model number, it's not enough to have google search there.

I've not seen touchscreens listed in the manuals for the Jumpstart games, but I've seen it on older games from Edmark Corp. (e.g. the 'Mighty Math' game series); they made a product called 'TouchWindow'. It originally was serially connected, but later became a usb device. This type of touchscreen is mounted in front of a monitor and lets you use a touchscreen on computers not having a bultin touchscreen, like your laptop seems to have.

I entered my laptop's model number on the Acer website. There aren't any drivers there. There's only Quick Access. https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-su … ggest=r7-371t;0

Here is the manual for my laptop. It shows that my laptop has a touchscreen. https://static.bhphoto.com/lit_files/108965.pdf

I never heard of 'TouchWindow'. I didn't see it in the stores when I was a kid. I'm only familiar with Edmark games like Strategy Games Around the World, and Thinkin' Things Collection 3.

What are the min specs for it?

You might consider using winlator on a tablet. It is able to emulate an approximately early 2000s era pentium 3, with a single core, and without 3D acceleration. For a 2D title, this should be fine.

It simulates the mouse using the tablet/phone touch screen.

It's strange they don't supply the touchtools anymore through their support - and it should be part of the recovery partition on these machines; however if you upgraded from Win8 to Win10 that might have erased or overwritten the recovery partition for the machine.

I did find various drivers for the laptop on non-acer sites, for example something called 'virtual buttons' drivers, which may be related, but the Touch Tools themselves would be more to the point I think; there are a couple of sites carrying those, and they are listed as Win10 compatible.

I have not downloaded any of these files, so scan them for malware if you choose to.

I didn't download the Acer Touch Tools. Software Informer said it might be harmful. I didn't download winlator either. It's not available on the Google Play Store. I haven't tried sideloading it.

I tried the CD I got from eBay. It works well with the touchscreen, but my nephew thought it was boring. He would rather play JumpStart 1st Grade. I bought that one from Zoom Platform, and it works well with touch screens.
