If you run Midtown Madness on GeForce and above, enabling pedestrians will cause a graphic error as shown below.

Of course, it looks like this.

The driver I tested is Nvidia v21.81. The specifications are as follows.

GeForce MX 200
GeForce MX 400
Pentium 3700 MHz
DX 8.1
Windows 98SE

Of course, turning off the pedestrian option will solve it, but you won't be able to play it the way it should. It's possible with XP patching, but honestly, 98 doesn't answer it, but when I changed this error to the pre-GeForce Riva TNT2 M64, it worked out.

The GeForce 4 Mx400 I mentioned before is also good in terms of performance, but I get this error when I run this game with GeForce.

In this case, do I have no choice but to use the pre-GeForce Riva TNT2 graphics card?

Not sure if any ATI cards would be any better. But, yeah, I have had the same as you with Geforce cards.

Unfortunately yes, this game is not that friendly with geforce cards for some reason, I have the same issue using my fx 5900 xt and using windows 98, and yep If I have activated the predestrians options game will have all this crazy glitches that makes this game so umcomfortable and unplayable, yes removing this pedestrian option fixes the issue but it lacks the classic "way of play" while the peds runnaway from you when you were deiving by them.

Its funny but it runs better on my emulated windows 98 machine using PCem than on my physical windows 98 build, because game works way better while using a Voodoo card. Any way that is better than nothing I guess.

Then, we have no choice but to use that card in the limited specifications of the graphic card before GeForce.

Or you can play it also under windows Xp, thats another solution, like Midtown Madness 2 is another example for me, while playing it under windows 98 using the card i told before, game is unplayable with all the graphical issues, using the patch for xp dosent seems to work, but playing under my pcem windows 98 machine with voodoo graphics works good but all settings need to be in the lowest and distance draw in the lowest aswell or I will have the lowest fps ever, so I played this game in my Windows xp machine, the patch worked 100% and im playing all settings to high and getting above 60fps.

Its generally better to run these pre-2000 games on first or second gen graphics cards (voodoo1, voodoo2, riva128, tnt1, permedia2, savage4, G200, etc), otherwise you might expecting anomalies like this - or in worst case, they will not even start. The nvidia drivers you used are already too new as well. In that era, newer drivers meant significantly less performance and less compatibility for older titles.

Thank you so much, this windowsxp patch for Midtown Madness 1 works for me perfectly running it under windows 98, no more glitches, and now I can have pedestrians option activated, all settings to high and game runs perfect and Im hitting about 75fps.

thank you so much!!
