Hi,

As the title says I need some help getting this game to work on w7 and above.

What I've tried:

Installing it on XP, then patching (works on xp), then moving it to w7 machine
Installing it on w7 and patching using the 2.0.4 patch by EA
Setting compatibility mode to xp sp1 on w7 and renaming game.dat to .exe (this has worked for normal generals)

But to no avail. Game still crashes before it goes to the cnc splash screen. No errors, only when I launch the game normally (no admin privileges). Any ideas?

Is this the original disc release?
Did you apply a crack?
The game is infected with SafeDisc which won't work on Vista or later.

This is the original release, atleast as I recall.
Couldn't find any cracks online, just gentool and other gppatchers that only work on w10/11.

By the way, there is no "2.0.4" patch for Generals/ZH, so I don't know what you've installed.

I think I got the 1.0.4 and I'm misremembering it as 2.0.4 patch.

Nope, works fine. Even with uBlock on.

Nope, works fine. Even with uBlock on.

Now I get serious error even with the options.ini patched and compatibility mode to xp sp1/sp3/vista. Any ideas?

the retail version is protected with safedisc 2 that doesn't work on windows vista and above.

you better get the C&C The Ultimate Collection, it constains all games and works with Win7 and above.
