I'm trying to download a copy of a freeware game, it's called 'Spots', and it's a Ataxx type game, but the game download
link is dead, and the site hasn't been updated in twenty years.

Does anyone have this, please?

I checked my glacier archive (it's huge) and I don't have it. If anyone is helping in the search, the filename looks to be spots02.zip. Cheers.

Note: His Amstrad CPC versions Spots and Spots 94 are everywhere online.

Thanks for looking, mate. I know about the CPC games (not originally, I found them via google) but I just like the look of the Windows version.

Yeah, there are a number of archivists in this forum. I'm sure it'll turn up eventually.

I looked in Hallfiry's catalogue and it did not turn up any feasible results for either spots02 or spots.exe.

I also looked up Wayback Machine snapshots of a couple of German free game websites, but no luck either.

Thanks for looking, mate, I appreciate it.

I've had this problem before, when looking for game mods (even for very popular and ubiquitous games likes Half-Life, and Doom), that I'd
like to try, from a website that's not been updated since electricity was invented, and the links are all dead. A couple of times, I managed to
contact the author, and was surprised to find that he/she didn't have a copy available to them. This surprised me, as I always though that
if I have made something that I was proud enough of to distribute, then I would always keep a copy safe somewhere.

As an aside, I'm afraid this might be happening more often than you think. People complete a project and move on, they update or change their PCs and forget where backups are, etc. It's sad but true. And I can personally tell you, sometimes when a project is finished, you don't cling to it anymore and it may kind of just fade away. It can be very hard to get back to something that consumed all your attention and efforts some ten or more years ago if you haven't touched it since.
