Hi!

I have problems running my original Flashback (Floppy Version) game. I get FX Soung but not music.

I have installed a PNP Soundblaster AWE64 Standard Edition card.

My building is the following:
Motherboard QDI Legends Advance 10T
Pentium 3 933MHz
512M RAM 133MHz
MSDOS 6.22
Voodoo 3 3000 16MB RAM

I've tried A220 I5 D1 and A220 I7 D1 with soundblaster setting, but not changes. With adlib doesn't sound.

Any ideas? From the past, I could run it in a similar building with a soundblaster awe32.

Thanks!!

I have found similar with Flashback on several ESS cards (Audiodrive, Solo1) - no matter what settings are used, when SB mode is activated I get music but no sounds.

With a Yamaha opl-sa3 based card the SB mode works.

Try switching to the Adlib mode in the setup tool and you should find you get music and fx. Sorry, that worked for me.

I suspect Flashback is just really picky with detecting SB compatible hardware.

Have you initialized FM passthrough with AWEUTIL /S ?

How I can do this? Certainly in my autoexec.bat runs aweutil /S but enables general midi with /EM:GS bank.

Thanks!!

With unisound driver, Flashback is working.

I only tried the demo, but sound and music works for me.

I have a similar system
Abit BX133-RAID
Pentium 3 1GHz
512M RAM 133MHz
MSDOS 6.22
Voodoo 3 2000 16MB RAM
Soundblaster AWE64

I've had a similar problem on one of my older computers when switching from a non-PNP AWE32 to a PNP AWE 64 (modded to 2 MB onboard).
I had to run CTCM /S before I could run AWEUTIL /S
Then I had FM.

I've discovered the error and it was precisely the ctcm that it was no declared as devide in config.sys. With that and configuring IRQ5 like legacy isa, it works.
