It didn't do any visible damage and the disc is OK. I just thought it'd be funny to share my near-tragedy.
Heh, I run mine under warm water and use liquid dish soap.

I like to wipe the top of many...dirty old things with IPA, so I'm sure an optical disc would've eventually received the treatment. Thanks for the heads-up!

Its just ISO removing the old dry ink from the label ...it wont hurt the media itself thankfully.

Kinda weird tho since alcohol normally does not strip ink or paint. I think I have used it before to clean some of my older disks without any issues at all, but they were all real retail copies of things.

Its an old MS disc with what looks to be that awful cheap ink they used at the time ..it used to come off back in the day too. The other consideration I have is that the disc may not be original and its got a printed on label.
