I wondered for a long time, why people don't create a virtual display. Now someone has created a virtual display driver. https://vdd.mikethetech.com/ A reason for this was to get a 240p crt signal on present day monitors without expensive hardware. There are also PVM's that these might be able to simulate. For now this only works on Windows 10/11 and does support hdr on win11, I also found an installer for the control panel: https://github.com/VirtualDrivers/Virtual-Dis … Driver/releases. There are hardware such as retro tink 4k, and vnc. Computers for news stations that help display a weather map during a live tv broadcast. Now maybe home users can begin to do some of these things in software? Hopefully this is a clear enough explanation. Maybe this will work with glide or opengl wrappers?...
