I found this site named NovaHQ and I'm wondering that I'm trying to find some video game modding sites.

If you're into mods for the Need For Speed games, NFSAddons (.com) and NFSplanet (.de) are still up... and probably the last 2 major sites for those games. NFScars (.net) shut down a few years back, though it looks like someone backed it up and re-hosted it (now nfs-cars.com).

Oof, I forgot a big one: FPSbanana. Anyone remember that one? 😁 It goes by GameBanana (.com) these days.
If any of you played Counter-Strike (any version), there's no way you didn't visit this website to download a map or skin of some sort... or tools to import inappropriate sprays. 🤣

I know, right!
And notice how quickly some of these load or in how old of a browser they will still display fine. 😀
THIS was the internet I grew up with - fast, efficient websites that didn't overdo it with scripts that waste a cubic ton of CPU cycles.

If you're into Quake, this is the mothership of maps: https://www.quaddicted.com/

Edit: How could I forget about Zerk Zone? https://www.zerker.ca/home/

The page has a 90s feel to it and if you look under "Tags" on the right side of the page you'll find all sorts of interesting goodies. Unreal Tournament maps that are made to look like other classic games such as System Shock for example.

Uh.... Nexus Mods? Or maybe not. That's for newer games. Though, Morrowind mods are available there.

Shameless plug:
https://i-war2.com

Founded in 2003, I took it over in 2014 and we're still here.
At the moment I'm hoping some really crazy hacker can help us out fixing the game on systems with high clockspeeds, because it runs way too fast, making it unaccessible for modern audiences. 🙁

Apart from that, people are still active (more on Discord than the forum atm) and still create mods for the Independence War games. Sooo many years after their release.
It's pretty awesome to be a part of this and I'm glad I was unemployed in 2014 and had way too much time on my hands so I was able to save it.

In Q3 places, LvL's still around. Started on GSI planet hosting in 1999 and survived the jump. Has had major changes since like extremely thorough tagging, browsing, and in-browser playable previews.

BeyondUnreal's also another 1999 place that's jumped off of corporate hosting (UGO), but doesn't do news updates anymore as Epic stopped making Unreal games. 🙁

the in-browser play would have seemed like some kind of trick had it been around back in 1999 😀 I'm still impressed when i see it now

what impressed me about some of these sites, other than their wonderful 90's/early 2000's look and feel, is activity. Some are still posting updates and have active forums/contributions.

It's like finding an outpost village in the open, in a world of vast domed and closed off cities, or something!
