Anybody experiencing issues with this game, specifically with Dark Reign 2?

It has all kind of artifacts, even if I take the graphics to all minimum or try different resolutions.

Dark Reign 1 lags like hell for some reason on Win98 but at least that runs fine on Win XP.

Dark Reign 2 unplayable on both due to the same artifacting.

I have a feeling this will be graphics card related. More luck if I put in an AGP Ati card for this?

Dr1 still has an avid fan base with patches, and it works on 10 last I checked

Not sure about DR2
But DR1 has very low requirements, P90, 16 MB RAM, 1MB DX3 Video card.
Something isn't right with your setup?

What version of graphics drivers and direct X are you using?
DR1 has the annoying installer that forces you to install its copy of Direct X, lucky once you have it installed once you can simply copy the folder from then on, no need to install ever again.
Personally I use the unofficial 1.7 patch but cant find the individual download. any links include the full game (probably due to the install issue) which of course I can't link here.
