Does anyone know of any software that could share an iso similar to the way that cdrom servers shared cdroms back in the day. I’m surprised that I can’t find anything online. This could maybe be helpful on systems that can’t natively mount iso files like dos.

To access ISO’s across the network in DOS, I use NETDRIVE (https://www.brutman.com/mTCP/mTCP_NetDrive.html) to connect to a network drive then use SHSUCDHD + SHSUCDX (http://adoxa.altervista.org/shsucdx/index.html) to mount the ISO.

Uhm.... I have mounted .iso images off my nas' share and used them with image mounting software for years?

If you want to have a cdrom's filesystem exposed, a linux based NAS is still the best option here, since that system can mount the .iso using the loopback device, then just share the resulting filesystem as a share.

Similar can be done with windows, if you really want, just not as leanly/cleanly.
