Since I had the very bulky version 1 in my hands, I always wanted to use this mouse for my games. Thanks to the great button layout and the nice shape the mouse is a perfect fit for big ape hands like mine. The Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 perfected it for me. Now I am regularly searching on ebay to find some of those old gems for my stock. What I also did was to test other "mice" to see if there is even a better one outside or one that is almost identical to the way the Intellimouse 3.0 feels.

I dont know what to say but the Logitech products are not my thing. I tried the G402 and the G502 and the G203 and while the G203 is too small, the G402 and G502 are relatively good to use but the fact that they have these unusable buttons if you want to play on XP because the old software does not detect them and the GHUB does not support XP makes it a pain. The other problem I have is that they both have a weird button configuration by default. The front thumb button which I would always use for something like flashlight or other nice game features has the DPI sniper mode. So I had to go to a Win10 with GHUB to create a profile and set it as the standard profile saved in the mouse so it would work on XP. I think when it comes to Logitech, their best mouse, for me, is still the old RX25o which a lot of people had on LANs.

Razer Deathadder 2.0 is a nice mouse but the shape is strange. It feels strange holding it, not sure how to describe it. Its probably how long the mouse buttons are on the front that irritates me.
Razer Viper is an awesome mouse. It feels relatively close to the Intellimouse and feels very good in the hands.

Steelseries Rival 300 had a great grip and was very nice to use. Unfortunately the rubber coating for better grip fell off because the glue was cheap. I hope this was a one-off because it really felt good to use it.
Steelseries Rival 3 is almost as good and has a nice feeling when using it. For some reason I still prefer the way the Rival 300 felt in my hands.

I have ordered a Mad Catz RAT 4 now to test it because I always wanted to have this kind of mouse. Since the first model those looked very cool and engineer-y, but the price was always too high. I am the 30 bucks for a mouse is great guy. Thanks to the retro hobby, you can now get the old versions of the above for 5-20 EUR on ebay and other platforms, even in mint condition.

What kind of mouse do you like?
Which was great and surprised your expectations?
Which one disappointed big time?
My next stupid idea is to plug the PS2 adapter to all of them and check if one of them is still able to steer my P90 but I guess they all will not support the PS2 protocol anymore.

If I remember right, the current Intellimouse models are supposed to be the same shape as the Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. However, I have a Pro Intellimouse, and the scroll wheel is extremely flaky. The software isn't going to work on Windows XP either.

It seems like every mouse I've bought or had issued to me at work since about 2017 or 2018 only lasted nine months before the left button started registering double-clicks or randomly dropping stuff that I was dragging. It didn't matter what brand the mouse or its switches were. I can replace the switches, but I never needed to before until the mouse was at least 15 years old. The Pro Intellimouse is the only exception. Its scroll wheel sucks, but it still has the original switches.
