I've never heard of those old video game demos or patches outside Steam and GOG.com. What are some now-defunct old video game demo or patch download sites that you will miss?
Fileplanet was a big one for especially demos

I kinda think the older website had more patches available and I fear for the day that the site goes down...

Consult with the webmaster of patches scrolls first. Back in 2006 the site was 300GB (with "obsolete patches" it was 500GB) according to the webmaster and funding was an issue. There also was an FTP at that time but obviously no ad views with that.

some of the big names there, i remember them
and lots of smaller game specific / independent / fan sites that had stuff to download, and there used to be slightly hidden stuff at various university sites that had unofficially been populated with things by students
Old 4players, I found almost every patch there back in the days.
