Having bought a mini PC recently, I'm wondering about an external GPU via oculink. Trying to get my head round what it all means.

Does Windows treat the external GPU the same as an internal one, so you just need appropriate GPU drivers? No drivers needed for the external contraption itself - presumably something internal to the mini-PC that handles that (PCI-E chipset or whatever). Is the external GPU throttled by this connection, or would performance be the same as if it was internal - or does that come down to whatever specification the particular hardware has?

Anything for the uninitiated to be wary of?

My S2600 board has some of those connectors, intended for connecting storage devices (enterprise SSD's)

As far as I can tell, they are just pci express x4 connectors in a different shape.
