Hi all,

Anyone able to identify what this bit of Elcom electronics kit might be?

Front/rear:

The attachment IMG_20251017_093927.jpg is no longer available

White cable (phone line?) and a barrel plug (no voltage specified), 120 cm antenna and an unfamiliar connector with 2 different-size holes:

The attachment IMG_20251017_094303.jpg is no longer available

Sticker and internals:

The closed matches I get on the first half of the FCC number BF7871 are modems from other brands, but I have no idea if that part indicates an FCC category.

Would love to know if you have any suggestions!

EMP Elcom Memory Products Cordless Rotary Touch Phone Flyer 2000

[...]

2000 A Cordless/dialer

Makes sense given the only IC on this 100% analog board is that TBA120S, which is an integrated FM demodulator and amplifier

Ah great, mystery solved, thanks Dionb!

I got this from a lot of various old electronics, but I didn't get the phone with it.

I'll hang on to it for now. If it's of interest to anyone, let me know and it's yours.

Any old landline looks usable, if those terminal wires are standard landline ones...

Get one of these, and attach the colored terminal wires to the same-colored screw posts.

https://www.amazon.com/NECABLES-Surface-Singl … /dp/B09GXHYXQD/

(Basically, this kind of breakout adapter is/was a common hardware store item from back in the day.)

That at least would let you plug it in to the line...

Dunno what the voltage for this is.. check what the FM demodulator chip's datasheet says?

Thanks! I actually didn't know about that type of adapter. All analog phones and modems I ever owned had a RJ10-style connector.

Looks like the FM chip takes 12V according to datasheet, so then I just need to figure out polarity. And of course I'd have to find a corresponding wireless phone 😁

And again, if anyone has a use for this thing and is willing to pick it up or pay for shipping, let me know!

Before using this equipment in regions that care about radio regulations, better make sure that the frequency used by this cordless phone system is actually (still) allowed to be used for that purpose in your region.

A hilarious mis-use of this might be attaching it to a POTS simulator, and putting it between some modems.

I very much doubt you'll get better than 28.8, but it would still be very hilarious all the same.

I like that idea a lot 😀 I've been looking into getting a PABX of some sort for experiments with analog modems and acoustic couplers. Maybe some day I can get a complete Elcom set connected to that as well.
