Hello!

I thought a was a lucky man because i had the opportunity to buy a soundblaster 16 card, model CT1740 equipped with a waveblaster daughterboard CT1900, both in a optic condition like new.
The soundblaster seems to working fine, but i cannot get any music from the waveblaster board, it remains silent.
So i took my other Soundcard, a CT1750 and tested it with the module, same problem.
After this i tested my other daughterboard, a DB50XG with the CT1740, music works fine.
So at the moment it seems so, that the Waveblaster could be defective.
Maybe i have forgotten something at the setup for the waveblaster, but when the Yamaha module is working fine then the waveblaster should also work, or not?
My settings are standard, base 220, IRQ5, DMA1, 5, MPU 330

Has anyone a idea, what i can else do?
Does anybody know about typical electronical issues of these boards, maybe typical defective parts?
Or can it be, that the pre-owner set up the module into another mode?

The waveblaster doesn't require any specific setup, it should be plug and play. If another wavetable card is working fine then that does suggest an issue with the waveblaster card. Check for cracked solder joints and probe the card to see if it's getting power to the right places.

Thank you for you reply.
In the meantime i replaced the 40 mhz crystal, but that was not the cause.
So i took 26 wires for extension and insprected the module from outside with infrared view, the only part which is getting warm is the Motorola CPU MC68000, so near 50 degrees celsius after 5 Minutes of running the module.
It´s a PLCC-68 Socket, i got such a chip for 10€, but i hesitate at the moment because it´s not a simple soldering quest.
