Hi! I have on a Win11/64 laptop two desktop pets: Worms Deskmate and Girb, and I enjoy them crawling all over the screen and having fun. I also have Scmpoo, but he bores me. 🙁 I want more. Where can I find them?

Huh, I never thought about desktop pets, the most I ever had on my desktop was a Christmas tree.

I remember having a Christmas tree on my desktop a long time ago. Where can I find one?

I haven't found it on any regular place online at this point, but it's a Christmas.exe, written in Delphi, must have appeared in 2007, its SHA256 is 28601B5080EC3A4DFB2CB3C0D8791195A8F80B7098F062F996BB8881E53BE416. If you have premium access to VirusTotal API, you could download it through that. 😜 Many things get uploaded to VirusTotal.

It was quarantined, but thank you anyway.

One of the reasons I ditched antiviruses long time ago, cca. 2012 or so. All they do is get in the way, waste resources and prevent me to run shit I want to run. These days, they block shit on the mere fact that the executable isn't signed.

Oh, look, it originates from: http://drive-software.com/download/christmas.zip

There were multiple versions apparently, I got the one from 2007, but there was another from 2006 (with setup program) and the latest is apparently from 2011. Perhaps the 2007 version could also be found on Wayback Machine.

If you look at the archived http://drive-software.com/, eg. https://web.archive.org/web/20071226122745/ht … e-software.com/, they had the link on old website.

I was wrong, and I'm sorry: I just saw the file in my Downloads folder: apparently a different file was quarantined.

You're right about antivirus software: they help but cause performance issues. 🙁
