Hello,

A friend gave me an old monitor, namely Samsung 740N.
He told me that he last used this monitor more than 10 years ago and it was working when he replaced it but it stood many years in a closet without turning it on.
However when I turned it on the monitor shows the image below.
Is there any chance to repair this monitor or I should consider it dead?
Any suggestion is welcomed.

Looks to me like somebody bumped it hard in that closed, perhaps more than once. What you see there is usually a sign that some of the LCD connections went open, and these are on the very edges of the display panel. So any hard hit from the side (or top/bottom) can cause that.

There is a small chance the electronics is just going crazy due to dead capacitors in the PSU, so perhaps worth investigating if you have the skills to repair that. Otherwise it's most likely junk now.
