Hey,

I got currently a lot of Xeon 603 on my hands - no idea how that happened 😀

Got an X4000 from a friend - sadly not working no idea yet - and he also got a Compaq W8000.

Both PSU are non-existant - the X4000 is a WTX like Tyan 2603/MSI 6508/iWill DP400 & DX400-SN

The Compaq W8000 says "WTX" aswell - but its totally different.
I did built a temporary Adapter - but machine does absolout nothing - also nothing smoked or exploded.

Here are the 2x connectors it has ;
https://pinoutguide.com/Power/wtxmain_pinout.shtml - a 24 Pin
https://pinoutguide.com/Power/wtxadd_pinout.shtml - a 22 Pin

While the 24-Pin is straight forward normal to build an has even 2x positive ratings..
The 22-Pin is something completly else - some Pins even marked with ??? - nor seemed to have tried or rated anyone it.
The Pin-Out Diagram is not marked from where to view - but only sense it makes if it is seen from the backside.
Pin-1 also marked on the Mainboard - and if you start measrung some groundpins - all other options make no sense.

Question1 is ofc - "am i really right - or did i mess up ?"
Question2 - Did anyone ever tried to adapt the W8000 PSU ?

More i think of it - it might not even be possible - reminds me of the Compaq SP750 and AP550 where no solutions are known either. Maybe the W8000 ques itself in there aswell.
A very very heavy 3.3V PSU / Some own Indicators/Sensors/CLock-Gen/Fan-Control in there ?! Might not even react if all of them are in place ?!

Small side-Update ;

Did get a orig. W8000 PSU - Thanks for everything !
Spoiler ; Was one of "you" Epic forum-members !! 😀

The W8000 Board works with the orig PSU.
I did try adapt it, but couldnt even switch the PSU on - not sure yet.

What is seen online as Pin-Layout is completly wrong !
Here small pics of orig PSU - total different spot alone from the PS_On cable.

So for now "No adapt" !
unless someone (or me) tries again ^^

I never took a good look at my W8000 PS other than noticing it doesn't look like a standard ATX housing from the outside. I hate servers that need special VRMs for the second CPU (have the same issue with an IBM Xserver 226).

Here and there i can understand why some machines have rly special PSU.

Funny - cause i had recently an older IBM X230 - but also needs quite the PSU-System - but mostly due Hot-Plug/redundance - which is "o.k."

But with Compaq... if it is the AP550, SP750, W6000 and W8000 - total bullocks - cause they are Workstations, no 24/7 medical Host-server, which just needs some ...in end ATX Power.
Or even if looked at WTX - which is basically ATX, can be easy adapted - why even make it ?! - well, were different times - godbless most stuff, even servers are just using ATX - but such madness still exists 😀
