hi all!

I wanted to do some MIDI tracks for Duke3d but I dont get how this works, I did a track with new Instruments/VSTs and would love to translate these to MIDI instruments but having of course translated to specific instruments when playing duke3d.

when I import MIDI files in FL Studio I see the various instruments, but how can I do it vice versa? so the game knows this is a string, this is a snare etc.?

does anyone know how this works?

appreciate it!

The game follows General MIDI specification with its fixed 128 instruments and specific percussions on channel 10, that sound the way whatever MIDI hardware you send the music to. Roland SC55 was a popular thing back then, but a lot of people heard things over their Adlib compatible card that the game also supports, of course at much lower fidelity. There are many other MIDI synths out there, including one built into Windows that a lot of people will associate with MIDI sound.
