Hello,
I am trying to get Harvester running on my Windows 98 PC but am having two major issues.
1. No gameplay. The opening FMV works fine, the menu works fine, but starting a new game takes me to a black screen. I strongly suspect this is related to me having difficulty getting DOS VESA modes to work properly on the Voodoo3 3000 GPU my system has. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream also fails to launch in any way without ScummVM, simply hanging at the DOS prompt in Windows even when I run S.exe with the -vesa parameter. Neither VESAFIX nor NOLFB have helped me at all. I am running the latest 3dfx drivers (1.07).
2. Sound is unlistenably choppy. I am currently emulating a Sound Blaster 16 with a SBLive, which I suspect may be to blame for this, and I have a PicoGUS I can swap to in order to test this theory, but if I don’t have to, that would be nice.
Specs:
AB-BH6 1.0 motherboard
Pentium III 850 CPU
512 MB PC133 RAM
Voodoo3 3000 GPU
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 sound card w/emulated SB16 driver
PicoGUS 2.0 (for external MIDI support in DOS games)
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
