I got an old Dell Dimension L566CX from my grandma a while back. I got it installed with FreeDOS and have been using it as a retro-gaming PC and sometimes text work environment.

I know it's possible to have an old PC communicate with new networks and even crossplay with people running DOSBox, but I don't know how.
I've also read that IPX networking is supposed to require an IPX network card, but I'm wondering if somewhere out there exists a program or drivers to funnel IPX networking through the PC's inbuilt ethernet port.

IPX is a network layer protocol, which is network card (MAC layer) agnostic.

You can run TCP/IP on that thing as well, to connect more easily to whatever else for whatever purpose.
