I have a Aopen AX59 Pro, very unstable with any AGP card.
I don't use it often, it's been month it was in a closet. After many tries last days, I removed it from the computer and had a nice surprise ...
There's no cap near the AGP slot 😀
I think I removed it 2 years ago to check it, and for any reason I didn't solder it back or a new one.
The problem is I have no idea of the correct value. All I know is it must support at least 3.3 volts, and probably about 470 or 1000 uF.
Could anyone tell me the right value ?
Thanks, and you can call me stupid 😀

Which models of AGP cards have you tried with this board? Apollo MVP3 chipset is known for not so good AGP...

Should be 1000uF 6.3v, or, more exactly, the same value as TC17.

Yes, I know they are quite bad.
I tried a TNT2 M64, a GF 4 MX440, and an Ati 8500 DV.
This computer also has a Voodoo2, so I would not really need to have a good AGP card. I could just use a modern Ati Rage XL PCI, it works well too after a 3.3 volt mod.
But the AX59-Pro only has 4 PCI slots, and I use all of them. 2940 scsi, Voodoo2, network card and Vortex sound card.
I don't have any Isa sound card ...
So I have no other choice than use a AGP card. Not really for the 3D performance, the Voodoo2 works better with the slow K6-2 550, but just to have a display.

You could combine glide and 2D with a voodoo3 or banshee, that would even open another PCI slot and also 3DFX AGP cards don't seem to trigger AGP issues on super socket 7 boards

98/DOS Rig: BabyAT AladdinV, K6-2+/550, V3 2000, 128MB PC100, 20GB HDD, 128GB SD2IDE, SB Live!, SB16-SCSI, PicoGUS, WP32 McCake, iNFRA CD, ZIP100
XP Rig: Lian Li PC-10 ATX, Gigabyte X38-DQ6, Core2Duo E6850, ATi HD5870, 2GB DDR2, 2TB HDD, X-Fi XtremeGamer

AOpen AX59 Pro and its AGP is working fine on its limits.I have used Geforce2/3/Rage128Pro/RageXL/RagePro and some other AGP cards.
Pain was finding chipset dirvers for it and maybe AOpen board has different revisions. No need to use PCI, use older & lower powered AGP.

Sure. And I would prefer a Voodoo3 to any other card on this computer, but prices are crazy. And have been for years now.
Since I have health issue and can't work, I don't have money for this 😀

I've tried several drivers for the Via, same for Nvidia and Ati 8500 cards, I think they are all a pain with Win98.
But Win2k and Linux Etch are very stable.
I like to use Etch because it's an old version, compatible with Glide and Loki games, but also modern enough to have a user friendly Gui and tools like gparted.

I mean its pain to find right mvp3 chipset driver, it seems different boards or chipset revisions like different driver versions, still you have to select your grahpics card also carefully and it should match for the graphics card as well, not only chipset side, because of that one via4in1 or even only one agp driver is hard to recommend, its more like case by case solution, than one for all.
