I have Toshiba Tecra 750 DVD with batteries leakage. The laptop has been stored probably in some kind of basement, it smelled so. Before I opened it I tried to start it and it has started. It started to bios. So far so good. I couldn't test more, because it has no hdd. The bad thing is, probably due to wet basement it has battery leakage. I thought only to the laptop case, but some parts of motherboard have been also touched with acid. I have cleaned it with vinegar then water and then IPA. Can I do more? It does not look the best, I also do not know if it start after cleaning. Some places look "black" so some kind of corrosion has started. Will it stop after this cleaning ? What is your experience, could you evaluate the damage ? I have other cdts (Tecras, Satellites, Pros) but this model is one of the best so far I know so I want to keep it and try to repair it. I will clean the case and probably reassemble it. Pictures of the affected place attached. Thanks in advance.

Looks like this laptop is also using capacitors that are known to leak. All the pins at nearby chips and components are corroded from this (and battery)... This will be an annoying fix if possible at all :
* lot of bad components to replace, some of these resistors and capactiors look like they do not function anymore...
* many vias look like they may be completely rotten and since this is a multilayer board, fixes border on impossible...

...there is a chip that really catches my eye, the YMF715*C*. The ID register in YMF71x chips skips the C (and D) and the scientist in me really wonders how this chip will behave. Even if the laptop is unworthwhile to fix, this chip is something I wouldn't mind trying to do measurements with...

Thank you for your answer. So as I thought, the laptop goes for parts. I will clean what is possible and maybe reuse it later.
