Hi all! So I just got my Voodoo 3 2000 card today and I want to install it onto my Packard Bell Multimedia 601 running Windows 95. This whole time I've been using my onboard graphics running Trio64. As simple as it looked, I got no picture whenever I plugged in my monitor onto the card.

Yes it is showing up in device manager.

Now for the real reason I just found out upon research is that I have to enter the bios but I have no idea how to as no prompt is given to me. I tried pressing F1, F2, and even F10 as nothing happened. I can press delete but it only takes me to the CMOS setup. As you can see in this picture this is an award plug and play bios from 1997.

I may be missing something there, but entering the "CMOS Setup" is usually what people are referring to when they say they need to "enter the BIOS". Both of these refer to the same action when talking about the motherboard.

Also, it's likely that you need to disable the onboard video. Check around on the motherboard (near the Trio64 chip most likely) for a jumper to enable or disable the onboard video (it may say "Enable VGA", or something like that). If you don't see one, take some pictures of the motherboard and any identifying model numbers so we can try to help you find a manual or jumper guide for your board.

I could be wrong, but I think it would be uncommon for the onboard VGA to be disabled via the BIOS\CMOS Setup on such an old system. In those days, things that low-level were almost always done with jumpers.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Taking apart the whole pc just to showcase the motherboard is going to be easier said than done. But until I get around to doing so, I found this picture upon taking off the top shell indicating the jumper settings.

Incase I don't get around to doing so as a last resort, I strongly believe this is a S3 Trio 182415 https://www.mercadolibre.com.mx/packard-bell- … p/MLMU805353659

The option to disable the onboard graphics is usually in the integrated peripherals section of the CMOS/BIOS setup (What you get by pressing DEL at boot time)

Motherboard is this one https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/bcm-fm530 (as per @dionb in your previous thread Re: Could I turn a Packard Bell Multimedia 601 into at least a decent gaming build? )

If you read manual for your motherboard that @dionb give you mo then year ago. You can see that onboard video should be automatically turn off if pci video installed.
Your onboard video dont turn off... So Voodoo3 is not working OR IT HAS LOST OR GET INCOMPATIBLE (MAC?) BIOS 😉

That's unfortunate. The seller told me it was tested. I'll have to try reconnecting again, or just return it.

If you can - try to install it to other PC. Who knows what incompatibility possible with your Packard Bell.

This may be a dumb question, but which device do you have your monitor plugged into?

Good news everyone! All I had to do was reconnect my voodoo into my pci slot and wouldn't you know it, it actually works now! I had some 3D games stored next to my setup and they've been working good! So far I've tried Hot Wheels Crash, and Star Wars Dark Forces II. Thank you Babasha for the solution. (P.S.) I don't have another PC as old as this rig to test my card.

I was going to suggest cleaning the contacts yesterday but didn't mention it for some reason.

I like to use a pencil eraser, but it seems like the newer latex-free ones just leave nasty smudges and residue, so you'd need to have some ancient pink erasers from the before-times on hand.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.
