Hello everyone

I just wanted to announce the launch of a new project that some of you will hopefully find of interest.

I have a channel on YouTube dedicated to old computers (BoomerTec), it's only small with 2.6k subscribers, I don't get a huge amount of time for making videos although I do very much enjoy doing so.

I've used YT for many years but lately I've been getting a bit disillusioned with some aspects of it. Mostly the relentless adverts, they seem to show them every couple of minutes now. Constantly getting pushed AI generated content is also a bit disappointing. I don't want to throw too much shade on them, they are a business and I get that, but I personally feel watching anything these days is almost impossible for the adverts. My own channel isn't even monetised, yet a video about a Pentium II I uploaded recently, I counted 12 adverts when trying to watch it back to make sure it uploaded properly.

So, I've launched my own platform that is really just a database of videos (like youTube but obviously a lot simpler). Videos are organised into channels, although there is only one channel at the moment with my own videos on. Videos can be watched back with stream-rate selection for different Internet speeds, and there is a "like" feature, but not a comments feature as yet.

As it's a strictly non-commercial project, there are no adverts. It doesn't store cookies or do any tracking/harvesting or weird stuff. There are no "accounts" to log into. It's just for retro computing videos, maybe I might widen that out to other old technology areas at some point, but don't have any current plan to.

There is another portal to the videos under development that works with Windows98SE and IE5 (using 98's built in media player and early HTML code). This is working well so far but it's not ready yet.

So, first of I just wanted to make you aware of the project and invite you to have a look:

And secondly to hopefully reach out to others who like to make videos about retro tech and see if there is any interest in supplying some videos to publish on it? It's a bit empty with just my content, hopefully some others will be interested in having a channel on there too. If anybody is, you'll need to email me. There is no "registration" process and I don't intend there ever will be. My address is

Thanks everyone for reading. I hope it is of interest and that you find it a lighter alternative to YT.
