Hi, I own a Toshiba T1960cs, it works well, but the screen colors are dull/tern/whitish, especially when the screen is turned on for some time/warm, the black is whitish, even after adjusting the brightness wheel on the side of the screen. I own several T1900cs series but the others have brighter colors. I replaced all little 50v 10uf capacitors inside the screen (on the lcd driver only, I didn't touched the inverter), but it didn't changed much. I'm wondering if there is some capacitors on the motherboards I should replace as well to get the screen working properly. Any advice welcome. Thanks.

How can I verify this hypothesis? I have a broken modern LCD screen from a laptop, could I reuse the polarizer on that old one ?

I'm not sure how one can do that, maybe there's a detectable sour/vinegar smell, in which case it is game over. You can google "vinegar syndrome" for more info, at least for one type of degradation happening.

The polarizer can be replaced but it takes considerable effort. There are a few threads on this forum where people have had success, this one for example : Vinegar syndrome and choosing new polarising film

I know what is vinegar syndrom, I already had some laptops concerned, but I don't think this is the case here, the screen looks in pretty good condition and there is no smell at all. Thanks for the link I'll check that, maybe I'll try to repair concerned screens.
